Storthes Hall Park

Storthes Hall Park is a Halls of Residence for Huddersfield University, about 4 miles/ 6.5 km south of Huddersfield in a countryside setting surrounded by woodlands.

Location

Strothes Hall Park is situated close to the motorway network in Yorkshire, in the centre of the United Kingdom, within reach of ferry services into Newcastle upon Tyne, Liverpool and Hull.

Facilities at Storthes Hall

The site offers a range of accommodation: en-suite study bedrooms, camper van / caravan spaces and camping.

We have the use of one of their Conference Centre (The Arboretum) as a focus for catering and social activities.

EMC Rally 2010

The Rally opens on Wednesday 4th August and there will be a programme of events, including worship, workshops, seminars and ride-outs through to Sunday morning, 8th August, when the Rally will close with morning Worship in the marquee.

The site will remain open until Monday for those who have ferries to catch or wish to stay one more night before travelling onwards in the UK.

Restaurant and Food Service

The Restaurant will be open throughout the rally and until Monday morning breakfast on 9th August.

The restaurant will be open for breakfast (with a choice of cooked or cereal breakfasts), at lunchtime and for evening meals. You can choose from a wide selection of meal choices and one, two or three courses.

The restaurant will be open until 10.00pm on Thursday and Friday evening to provide for those arriving at the rally throughout the evening.

Bar Snacks will be available throughout the day and up until 11.00pm - this will include chips, pizzas, sandwiches and more. The bar area will also sell chocolate bars, crisps, cans and soft drinks and other goodies.

CMA UK will be running our own "Holy Joe's Café" in the Arboretum for the whole of the rally - tea and coffee when you need it!

The EMC Rally Barbeque will be held on Saturday evening.

Rally Events

There will also be plenty of time to relax, talk and opportunities to explore the beautiful Yorkshire countryside.

Games:
  • There will be Silly Games tournament during the rally, including tug-of-war, garden Jenga challenge and a computer games "PS2" challenge for the young at heart and the traditional bike games.
  • There may be an EMC Football World Cup!
  • A bike show is planned
  • And a variety of games equipment will be provided for you to entertain yourselves, whether it's wet or dry!
We are booking bouncy castles and giant inflatables for the young in body and mind to play on!
Rideouts:

Several organised ride outs are planned into the surrounding countryside, a visit to a rally where CMA UK are running a "Holy Joe's" and to a local biker meeting place.

Worhsip:

Worship services will be held each evening and on Sunday morning.

There will be a baptism service for anyone who wishes to make a public declaration of their new-found commitment to God.

Young People

Young People will be provided for with Young People's meetings, games and other events during the week. There will be a crèche for the very young.

Accomodation

Study Bedrooms: The Study bedrooms are available in groups of 6-8 rooms in each flat in the student residences. Each room has a shower and wash-basin.
There is one bed in each room and a second mattress will be provided (on the floor). Towels, duvet and duvet cover, sheet, pillow and pillow cases are provided for each bed at no additional charge.

There is sufficient space for a cot (bring your own) for a child up to two years old.

Ground floor rooms will be reserved for those with mobility issues and there are a small number of rooms with full disabled facilities - just let us know on the booking form!.

NOTE: There is £10 deposit for room keys - this is paid back to you when you return the key when you leave.

Caravans and Camper Vans: Please note there is NO electrical plug-in facility on site and there are no dedicated sanitary facilities.

Camping: There is extensive camping space on the site amongst the Halls of residence buildings. 24/7 toilet facilities and showers will be provided for campers.

Site Facilities

Laundrette: The site has a fully equipped launderette with coin-operated washing and drying facilities.

Shop: There is a shop on site selling a variety of goods for those who wish to self-cater (open 1400-1800 hours Thursday - Saturday).

Bread and Milk: We hope to have a milkman visiting site selling bread and milk.

The rally is a great opportunity for Christian Bikers from across Europe to meet together in a relaxed atmosphere. Bring the family, catch up with friends and worship and learn together. The Rally is open to all - please encourage friends to come along and share the weekend with us.
